SEASON Kickoff Breakfast (annual)

TBN's annual Season Kickoff occurs early to mid May. All ride levels meet for an informal (free) breakfast. This is a great event to start the riding season, where you can socialize and learn what is planned for the upcoming season. Members are encouraged to invite non-member friends and family.

This year, 2026, the Kickoff will be on Saturday, May 9th at Etienne Brule Park. Registration for this event opens on March 15th. For more information/registration visit the Season Kickoff Breakfast page.

SPRING FLING PARTY (ANNUAL)

TBN's annual Spring Fling Party occurs in early May to celebrate the beginning of a new cycling season with a party. The party features a buffet dinner and live music. This event is only open to current members and their guests. Registration for this event opens on March 15For more information/registration visit the Spring Fling Party page.

MONTHLY PUB Quiz

The pub quiz happens every month on the last or second-last Tuesday. Up to 25 participants will work in teams to answer quiz questions in categories of their choice. The quiz nights are at Arisu, a great Korean/Japanese with an extensive menu and drinks list. Registration for this event opens on the first of every month. For more information/registration visit the Pub Quiz page.

ANNUAL DINNER AND DANCE (AND agm)

DINner AND Dancing on the danforth

This fun event occurs every month. We meet for dinner at a restaurant near Broadview and Danforth. After dinner, we walk to Noonan's Irish Pub, where we enjoy some great live music, and, for those who wish to, dancing. Registration for this event opens on the first of every month. For more information about this month's event, visit the Dinner and Dancing on the Danforth page.

trip presentations (temporarily Unavailable)

On one Monday evening a month, there are presentations by TBN members about interesting cycling trips they have done. The presentations consist of a 45-minutes slide show with a Q&A session afterward. For more information about this month's event, visit the Trips Presentation page.

AUGUST 9 PICNIC CANCELLED

Regretfully, for those who were looking forward to the TBN picnic, the board decided at last Tuesday’s meeting to cancel this year’s picnic. The vote to cancel was nearly unanimous. There are a number of reasons why this decision was reached. As you know, we have two similar events during the season, being the Season Kickoff Breakfast and the Picnic Lunch. We feel the Kickoff is invaluable as, after a long winter, it allows members to reacquaint with other members, as well as meet new members and potential members. The mingling nature of the Kickoff is ideal for that. In comparison, the Picnic Lunch has many riding with the same people they’ve ridden with all season, and, most often, they sit with those same people at lunch. While the Kickoff occurs after many months without a major TBN social event, the Picnic happens just a week after what is, arguably, the best social event of the year – Cyclon. The Picnic is not as inclusive as it might be because of its location. It is not easily accessible by TTC for those who do not wish to ride that day, and the meeting point for those who do choose to ride is far from central. Weather can also have a negative impact as with last year’s Picnic, which saw a significant number of no-shows because of the extreme heat.

The number of registrants from the past three years indicate that the Kickoff is increasing in popularity (120, 134 and 202 registrants) while the Picnic is decreasing (141, 123 and 111 registrants). Ideally, the board would like to have social events which include as many members as possible. We all agreed that a big mid-winter social event would be a great way to break up the time between the AGM and the Kickoff. We already have some interesting ideas for that event and would welcome more from our members. Our mission is to provide the best possible experience for you. Should the switch from the Picnic Lunch to the mid-winter event prove unpopular with many members, we can always resurrect the picnic next year. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome and can be sent to social@tbn.ca.

If you have would like to help organize an event and/or would like more information, then please email social@tbn.ca.
