Monthly Pub Quiz

You are invited to attend the monthly trivia night at Arisu Authentic Korean and Japanese Restaurant  on the last Tuesday of every month.

Arisu has a huge menu with an incredible variety of Japanese/Korean food including Korean BBQ, sushi, and a number of vegan/vegetarian options. It also has an extensive drink list featuring a good selection of wine, spirits, sake and soju. It has a good choice of bottled beers and six craft and Japanese beers on tap, which are available at the 1980s price of $5.99 a pint. View the full menu here.

It also has a wonderful staff and a nice patio, which we may be able to use in the warmer months.

The schedule for the evening is as follows:

  • 6:30: Arrival and order food and/or drinks
  • 7:00: Choose teams, team names and quiz categories.
  • 7:15: Questions are written for each round.
  • 7:30: The quiz begins.
  • 8:15: Break time
  • 8:30: The second half begins.
  • 9:15: End of quiz. Scores are calculated, winners are announced and prizes awarded.

This will be an unusual pub quiz in that the participants will choose the categories before the quiz begins. Virtually any category is possible, including history, geography, 80s music, Soviet fashion, marine biology, supramolecular chemistry, and even cycling. The teams or four or five will brainstorm possible categories, and we all vote to determine the five most popular topics. Then, since each team will be responsible for one round of questions, they will work together to compose 8-10 questions in their assigned category. Phones are permitted only during this phase and during the break.

Arisu is conveniently located at 584 Bloor Street West on the corner of Bloor and Markham Street. It's a 30-second walk from Bathurst subway station if you use the Markham Street entrance. There is a large parking lot behind the restaurant.
