No TBN rides through end-June

TBN rides are cancelled until the end of June, as we work on how best to ensure everyone's safety during this COVID-19 health crisis, and be sure that members and ride leaders are happy with any new ride programs and schedules we introduce.

When we have more information about the restart of our official ride programs, we will share it on the TBN website, on our Facebook page and in Chain of Events.

Toronto suggests new cycle routes

Toronto officials have proposed creating some 40km of new cycle routes in various parts of the city, including a much-needed cycle route along Bloor Street. That's on top of three major weekend street closures during the COVID-19 crisis: parts of Lakeshore East, Lakeshore West and Bayview Avenue are closed to traffic on Saturdays and Sundays so that cyclists and pedestrians have more room to play.

Details of the newest proposals are here here. City council will vote on the ideas on Thursday.

Explore Toronto on our virtual TBN city walks

TBN offers virtual city walks every Sunday at 10am, where we meet on a Zoom video conference and use Google Maps and Google Street View to explore the city. We stop to look at interesting things we pass: buildings, sculptures, historic locations, etc.

Please email to citywalks@tbn.ca to join the City Walks email list and receive the link to join the conference (probably by Saturday evening).

Yoga, virtually

Yoga is one of the best cross-training activities for cyclists and it has a number of health benefits. If there is enough interest, Lora Flanagan, a soon to be certified Yoga Teacher, will offer Yoga classes using Zoom or perhaps in local parks (in small groups, with proper physical distancing). There will be no charge for TBN members.

If you are interested, please email Lora at weekendtrips@tbn.ca.

Reminders

TBN membership to be extended

TBN is working on a way to extend all non-lapsed member renewal dates based on the length of time that our season is delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. In other words we will add days to your next renewal date after you pay for your 2020 renewal. Since we don't yet know when the lockdown will be lifted, you must renew your membership when it expires so that your membership does not lapse.

Join our virtual movie, travel nights

Please check the TBN homepage for details of future movie nights and travelogues, where we watch movies together, and chat about them afterward, or listen to a presentation on travel with your bike. Please email Lora at weekendtrips@tbn.ca if you would like to deliver a travelogue, or you have suggestions for movies we could watch.

The presentations use Zoom, a free and easy-to-use video call app where you can see and hear other participants on the call.
