Greetings Everyone

TBN will once again provide volunteers to assist at the Becel Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart this coming Sunday, June 2. We welcome all TBN members as well as non-members to join the TBN team as we act as the "eyes and ears" of the event. Click here for details and to register as a TBN Ambassador.

As a result of the Ride for Heart, some of the usual ride programs are cancelled that day and the 8:30am Tourist ride has moved to Saturday, June 1. However, the Country Cruise is still scheduled for Sunday. Check here for an updated ride and event calendar.

For those of you that are new to TBN and hoping to learn more about which rides to join, then check out the TBN Ride Classifications; if it is your first ride and you are unsure, then try an easier ride to start with. Also, the Saturday Morning Ride is a great orientation ride.

Remember that as a current TBN member, no registration is required for regular weekly rides so just show up with your membership card to ride. You are also encouraged to invite non-members to try out a ride; they will be asked to sign a waiver and pay a $5 non-member fee. Should they decide to join at a later date, this $5 payment will be counted towards their membership. Everything anyone needs to know about joining the club can be found in the Membership FAQs. (Note that the $5 non-member fee is waived this week as the first week of Bike Month.)

For those of you who opted in, you will receive your Quick Release newsletter in the mail by the second week of June. For everyone else, check the website at that time, under About TBN.

It's Contest Time and it's a whopper!

We have an extra special prize this week: Two tickets to the Blue Jays vs Tigers, on July 2 at 7pm, valued at $150!  You have to work for this.  Tell us your favourite TBN story e.g. the reason you joined, an amazing ride experience, a weekend event, a social event....anything you can think of.
Send in your stories by 6pm on Sunday, June 9, to contest@tbn.ca; a winner will be drawn and announced in the next issue of Chain of Events as well as on the TBN Facebook page. Remember that you must be a current TBN member to win.

Upcoming Events

TBN offers rides every Friday, Saturday, Sunday (up to five rides), Tuesday and two rides on Wednesday. Check out the upcoming calendar of events and remember to check regularly for updates and new events.

The TBN Website - A Great Resource

Under the Resources tab on the home page, there is a list of other cycling events in the region that includes charity rides, gran fondos, weekend events and more. If you know of other rides in Southern Ontario, please submit same to webadmin@tbn.ca.

The TBN photo gallery on Flickr is starting to fill up with pics of early season rides and the Spring Kick-off on May 25. Remember to send your ride photos to  photoadmin@tbn.ca so that all TBN'ers can enjoy the pics. For those that post photos to Facebook, please forward too as not all TBN members are on Facebook.

The Retailer and Services Discount Program  provides TBN members with discounts at participating businesses including these bikes shops: Cyclethpath Yonge/Eglinton, Gears (all three locations), Browns, La Bicicletta, Urbane, Pedal Performance, Batemans and Silent Sports. Services include rentals, tours, fitness, courses, events and art. There is also a special offer from one of our partners: Pedal Magazine. If your favourite shop or service is not on the list, tell them about the discount program and encourage them to contact TBN to sign up.
