TTC note: If you are planning on taking the subway to the start please note that Line 2 Bloor Danforth will be closed between St george and Broadview stations until 11 am.
This ride is named after Alan Gordon, an early and influential TBN member. You can find out more information about him and his contributions to the club on the TBN website here.
Although it has been shortened slightly it is still the longest Sunday Urban Roller ride of the year. Eighty three kilometres of mostly flat riding at an Urban Roller pace. If you'd like to do the distance but are unsure if you can keep up the pace, please note that there is a Leisure Wheeler ride doing a similar route to Port Credit at a more relaxed paced starting from the same spot. If you would like to do the original 100 km distance there is a tourist ride leaving from the Old Mill subway station which will go to Burlington and back.
We will ride from Toronto's Beach(es) area along the Waterfront Trail to a lunch stop (McDonalds) in Clarkson. You can of course bring your own food if you prefer. Given the length of the ride it is a good idea to bring along a few snacks to help keep your energy up. Full water bottles too. Then we will reverse course and retrace our steps with a few variations thrown in to keep it interesting.
The Ride with GPS map has been updated with the new route. Just after lunch we will eliminate the leg that goes out to Oakville This shortens the ride to 83 kms.
Meet for an early 9 am start at Boardwalk Place. It's just east of of Coxwell on Lakeshore Boulevard. Public parking is available in the adjacent lot accessed from Coxwell.
If a ride is cancelled due to weather or other circumstances a cancellation notice will be posted around 8 am on Sunday morning. Please check before leaving for the ride.
Remember to bring and wear your helmet.
