Today, Patsy will lead us on a 6 Km loop from Broadview Station to the Don Jail and back. Meet at about 10 AM in front of Broadview station. The walk will begin at 10:10 AM sharp.
The route goes south from Broadview subway station. First stop is at the Withrow Ave burial site for an update on what has happened in the past few months. Then we will visit the Don Jail for a free (donations accepted) self-guided tour (30 min) and a washroom stop. At the Don Jail there are elevators to access the various floors, so it is not necessary to climb stairs.
The group will then walk down to the lower Don trail in Riverdale Park. We will walk north on the trail to Pottery Road and east up the hill to Broadview, then return to start by walking south on Broadview to Danforth Avenue. At the end, there are several lunch options nearby, including the Broadview Diner.
There are no washrooms at the start/finish, but there is a public washroom in the Bloor Station, which may be convenient for some who are using the subway. Also, there is a washroom at Withrow Park, about 1.2 Km from the start/finish.
