Note that registrations are now open for the City Walk Celebration Lunch and Walk taking place on Sunday, March 22. Please register separately for the lunch and for the walk, if you wish to attend.
For today's walk, let's meet at about 10:00 AM at Coffee Time, 1471 Eglinton West, about 200 m west of Cedarvale Station (formerly Eglinton West Station). Coffee Time is on the south side of Eglinton, at Winona, where we have met several times before. The walk will begin at 10:10 AM.
We will walk to Prospect Cemetery where four friends are buried together with one headstone that reads "Friends". We will then walk to St Clair West Station. Total distance will be about 8 Km. The intent is to walk on mostly quieter streets, if possible, but if these are icy, we will stick to larger streets.
There are waSunday shrooms at the Coffee Time at the start, there will be a washroom/ coffee stop at about 5 Km, and there are washrooms in the Loblaws at St Clair West. At the end we can go to lunch at Raahi Modern Indian Kitchen & Bar. If we walk on quiet streets, there will be early exits to buses at Dufferin (4.6 Km) and Oakwood (5.3 Km). If we walk on major streets there will be access to St Clair streetcars anytime after about 5 Km.
The route will be entirely on city streets or paved paths, so please wear shoes or boots appropriate for the weather.
Some of the Points of Interest along the way include:
- 0.0 Km – Coffee Time (start of walk/washroom/coffee)
- 3.4 Km – Prospect Cemetery
- 5 Km approx - (coffee stop)
- 7.5 Km – Raahi Modern Indian Kitchen & Bar (lunch)
- 8.0 Km – St Clair West Station (end of walk, washrooms in Loblaws)
The RwGPS route is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/54008748, for the route on quiet streets. If we take major streets it will be basically Eglinton, Prospect Cemetery, St Clair to St Clair West Station.
