Sunday Urban Roller - New Highland Creek
Please note: You must register to participate on the ride. Registration is free for TBN members. Non-members can now purchase a 30 day trial membership for $10 here and then can register for the ride. If you cannot attend, please cancel your reservation by Saturday. Attendance will be checked at the start. If you register after 8 am on the day of the ride bring a copy of the confirmation email, either printed or electronic, to show to the ride leader.
We are still under Covid-19 guidelines, so remember to bring and wear your mask in appropriate situations and maintain social distancing. Also, a helmet.
This is an Urban Roller level ride. If you are uncertain whether this level is appropriate to your riding level, click here. For a more nuanced description check this page.
Start point note: Due to the closure of the parking lot at Victoria Park subway for condo construction the start point has been moved to the parking lot of the Shoppers World plaza at the SW corner of Victoria Park and Danforth. The RwGPS map still shows the old start point.
For this newer version of a favourite TBN ride we will be starting from Shoppers World, eliminating the big hill from the Beaches up to Kingston Road. We will be using a bit of the SMR route to Guildwood but continuing further up the Gatineau (Meadoway) Trail and then using a brand new connection to the upper part of East Highland Creek. A section of the trail about 100 metres in length is loose gravel so you will have to walk your bikes through that bit.
Lunch is at Tim Hortons near the two thirds point so you might want to bring something to snack on to keep your energy up. You may still wish to bring your own lunch and snacks to avoid lineups and contact.
Meet for a 10 am departure from the parking lot of the Victoria Park TTC station, located on the east side of Victoria Park Avenue, one block north of Danforth Avenue.
If the ride is cancelled due to weather or other reasons, notice of the cancellation will be posted on the website around 8 am Sunday. Please check before leaving for the ride.
