At about 10:00 AM, meet in the Food Court at the Hudson's Bay Centre, 2 Bloor St. East. The Hudson's Bay Centre is located on the north-east corner of Yonge and Bloor, at the Bloor-Yonge subway station. The Food Court is on the lower level, on the east side of the building, near Park Rd. It can be accessed from the north exit of the subway station by walking east (left exiting the station). On Bloor St, there is an entrance which says "Matisse", just west of the Marriot entrance, which leads to the Food Court (to the right). The walk will begin at 10:10 sharp.

Andrew will be taking us to visit seven of Toronto Fire Service's original and historic Fire Stations. We will be walking about 10 Km, and will end up at Union Station on Line 1 (Yonge-University).

There are washrooms in the Food Court, which previously were unlocked at 10 AM. There are also washrooms in the Bloor-Yonge station, located on the north end of the Line 1 Southbound platform (a paid fare area), which would be convenient if you are using public transit. There are also washrooms in each fire station, although these are single person washrooms and we will not have time for everyone to use them at any one station.

A Tim Hortons which opens at 9 AM is located in the Food Court. We will also have a coffee stop somewhere around the middle of the walk. At the end of the walk we can go to Beertown Public House or Union Station for lunch.

The route will be entirely on sidewalks, so please wear shoes or boots appropriate for the weather.

Subway service on Line 1 between Finch and St Clair stations will be replaced by shuttle buses on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23, for planned track work, but please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service#e=0 in case there are any changes.

Points of interest and early exits along the way include:

  • 0.0 Km – Hudson's Bay Centre (start of walk)
  • 5.6 Km Station 325 (early exit to buses, Dundas St)
  • 6.6 Km early exit to King streetcar
  • 7.4 Km early exit to King streetcar
  • 8.2 Km  Yonge and Adelaide (100m to 200m walk to either King or Queen subway station)
  • 10.0 Km  Union Station (end of walk, access to subway)

The route is available on Ride with GPS at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50006606.
