Meet at about 10:00 AM in the Great Hall of Union Station (the train station, not the subway station). We usually are near the benches around the north-west corner of the hall but may be somewhere else nearby if there is construction work, etc. Just look for a group of people standing around. We will begin the walk at 10:10 sharp.

We will be visiting the site of the Toronto Port Lands Flood Protection Project, a mammoth $1.25-billion, 400-acre project that will see the Don River extended 1.3 Km to the harbour, the creation of a new island (Villiers Island), as well as new parks, and new living and working spaces. The Flood Protection is expected to be completed later this year.

Some info on the project is available at:

From Union Station we will walk east on Front St, then visit the Distillery District. From there, we will head south towards Cherry Beach, with a detour along Commissioner's Rd. We will then head back to the Distillery District, where we can stop for lunch (or sake), before returning to Union Station. The total distance is approximately 10 Km.

There are washrooms at Union Station, and the Distillery District. The washrooms at Cherry Beach are closed for the season, although there are a couple of portable toilets.

No scheduled subway outages have been posted yet, but please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service#e=0 in case there are any changes.
