Meet at about 10:00 AM in the Great Hall of Union Station (not the subway station, but the train station). We usually are near the benches around the north-west corner of the hall but may be somewhere else nearby if there is construction work, etc. Just look for a group of people standing around. We will begin the walk at 10:10 sharp.
We will walk in a loop, for about 9 or 10 Km, returning to the start (Union Station). We will walk to the Beltway under the Gardiner Expressway, the Fort York Visitor Centre, through Liberty Village where we can stop for a coffee, then to Trinity Bellwoods Park (washrooms), on to a potential lunch stop at WVRST Restaurant, and back to Union Station (where the Food Court is another potential lunch stop). The walk will be entirely on city streets, so please wear shoes or boots appropriate for the weather.
On Sunday, December 10, 2023, there will be no subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between St George and St Andrew stations. Please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service#e=0 in case there are any changes.
Points of interest (preliminary) and early exits along the way include:
- 0.0 Km – Union Station (start of walk, washrooms)
- 2.8 Km – The Bentway (point of interest)
- 3.0 Km – Fort York Visitor Centre (washrooms)
- 4.0 Km – Liberty Village (coffee stop, Tim Hortons, Aroma, and others)
- 5.1 Km – Trinity Bellwoods Park (washrooms)
- 6.8 Km – WVRST Restuarant (possible lunch stop0
- 8.8 Km – Union Station (end of walk, washrooms, access to subway)
