Claude Cormier was a celebrated Canadian landscape architect who helped design some of Montreal and Toronto's best-known public spaces. He passed away on September 15, 2023 at his home in Montreal at the age of 63. We will visit some of his large and some of his smaller works in Toronto. If you are asking yourself "What exactly does a landscape architect do?" Come on the walk and find out.
Meet at about 10:00 AM in the Great Hall of Union Station (the train station, not the subway station). We usually are near the benches around the north-west corner of the hall but may be somewhere else nearby if there is construction work, etc. Just look for a group of people standing around. We will begin the walk at 10:10 sharp.
We will walk in two loops, going about 6.6 Km on the first loop, then doing another loop of about 3.4 Km, returning to Union Station both times for a total distance of 10.0 Km. The route will be entirely on city streets and sidewalks, so please wear shoes or boots appropriate for the weather.
There is a scheduled subway outage for this date. There will be no subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between St Clair and Finch stations. If this will affect you, allow extra time to get to the start. Please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service#e=0 in case there are any changes.

- 0.0 Km – Union Station (start of walk, washrooms)
- 0.7 Km – Love Park
- 1.5 Km - HtO Beach
- 3.7 Km - Garrison Point Condos
- 5.1 Km - Draper Park
- 5.9 Km - 300 Front Street West
- 6.6 Km - Union Station (washrooms, early exit to subway)
- 8.3 Km - Sugar Beach
- 9.6 Km - Berczy Park
- 10.0 Km – Union Station (washrooms, end of walk)
