DESCRIPTION

Starting from Vaughan subway, we work our way north and west to Caledon-King Townline 5, climbing two rather tough hills along the way and eventually reaching the Caledon Rail Trail. We take a 50-m detour north from the rail trail on Hwy 50 to stop for food and drink and to replenish our water bottles at the Ridge River Cafe or across the road at Caledon Hills Brewing Company, the latter having a large outdoor patio.   There is a brief stretch on Rutherford Road near the beginning, and on Islington Ave near Kleinburg, where there is no paved shoulder or bike line, and a less than idyllic stretch between Hwy 427 and Hwy 27 on the return leg, but overall this is a very pleasant, largely rural route.

Note that the rail trail is not paved, consisting instead of fine, well-packed gravel.

Meet on the east side of the oval, south station exit, depicted below. There is parking available in a parking lot immediately to the east of the oval subway station, at a cost of $7 for the day on Sundays.

We are accepting "guest rider" registrations for this event. Guest registrations are $10 payable via PayPal.
