End: 9:00 PM, Bellissimo Pizzeria & Ristorante, 164 The Esplanade
Pace: 15km/h to 20km/h (a slow Urban Roller)
After a long hibernation, it's time to rev up the Friday Night Ride for another season. This Friday, we're starting with something slow and easy.
Because Broadview Avenue will be torn up for construction the entire summer, we have to devise some alternate start locations for rides in the Riverdale area. In this instance, it's Withrow Park. We also have to navigate our way around construction on Lakeshore Road.
This waterfront route follows the Martin Goodman Trail west to the Sheldon Lookout at the Humber River Bridge. There's an option to continue west to the Etobicoke Point peninsula in Humber Bay Park West for a highly recommended sunset view of the city. There's also optional dinner and drinks at Bellissimo Pizzeria & Ristorante after the ride. Because it's early in the season, dress for cool evening weather, and make sure you have working lights and your helmet.
