The paved alternative would be to go on Sandford Rd which sometimes has significant traffic (including trucks from the local quarries).
A ride (including an 81 km strade bianchi variation partially on unpaved roads) from Stouffville to Uxbridge for lunch at the Tin Cup Caffe (reviews). Meet at the Free Parking Lot on Park Drive just south of Main Street in Stouffville. Drive north on Hwy 404 to the Stouffville Rd, and then drive east into Stouffville. Facilities are available at many of the chain restaurants and gas stations as you come into Stouffville.
