Meet at about 10:00 AM at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, 200 Eglinton Ave West, which is about 500m west of Yonge and Eglinton on the north side of Eglinton. The closest subway station is Eginton, on Line 1 (Yonge Line). Note that we will meet at the Community Centre, not the Arena (which is a bit farther north). We will meet near the front doors, about 50m north of Eglinton and Lascelles Blvd. The walk will begin at 10:10 sharp.
We will walk on quiet residential streets, with a few shorts stretches on gravel, in a loop to Lawrence and Bathurst area, going about 10 Km and returning to the start. We look at some evidence of some of Toronto's lost rivers along the way. At around the mid-point (5 Km) we will stop for a washroom break and a take-out coffee.
No scheduled subway outages have been posted yet, but please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/Service-Changes in case there are any changes.
Points of interest and early exits along the way include:
- 0.0 Km – North Toronto Community Centre (start of walk, washroom)
- 4.3 Km – Lawrence Plaza & Barbara Frum Community Centre (coffee stop)
- 4.6 Km – Barbara Frum Community Centre (washroom)
- 4.8 Km – early exit (1 Km walk to Lawrence West Station, or TTC buses to Lawrence Station or Lawrence West Station)
- 9.3 Km – North Toronto Community Centre (washroom)
- 9.9 Km – Eglinton Station (end of walk)
