Meet at about 10:00 AM in the Great Hall of Union Station (the train station, not the subway station). We usually are near the benches around the north-west corner of the hall but may be somewhere else nearby if there is construction work, etc. Just look for a group of people standing around. We will begin the walk at 10:10 sharp. (washrooms, early exit to subway)

We will first walk in a loop of about 4 Km from Union Station to the eight buildings that have been the tallest buildings in Toronto from 1906 to the present (in order) and go back to Union Station. Then we will walk to locations that may in the future become the tallest buildings in Toronto, and end at Yonge and Bloor. Total distance for the walk will about 10 Km, but because we will be downtown there will be many chances for early exits.

The route will be entirely on city streets, so please wear shoes or boots appropriate for the weather.

No scheduled subway outages have been posted yet, but please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/Service-Changes in case there are any changes.

Points of interest (approximate distances) and early exits along the way include:

  • 0.0 Km – Union Station (start of walk, washrooms)
  • 1.0 Km to 3.5 Km – the 8 tallest buildings in Toronto from 1906 to present
  • 4.1 Km Union Station (washrooms, first early exit to subway)
  • 5.0 Km Sky Tower Pinnacle at One Yonge (probable future tallest building site)
  • 6.0 Km Union Station (washrooms, second early exit to subway)
  • 6.5 Km, 8.0 Km, 9.0 Km – (other early exits to Yonge (Line 1) subway)
  • 10.0 Km – The One at Yonge and Bloor (possible future tallest building site (end of walk, washrooms))
