picture by Kevin Anderson This will be the last official hike of the season. It will be sad to see the hikes finish but they will be replaced by other outdoor activities. I will miss the group that have become regulars. We will do this again in the fall.
Glen Major Forest/Brock Tract Loop
The Glen Major Forest is more than 3700 acres of land located on the Oak Ridges Moraine in the headwaters of the Duffins Creek Watershed. This area consists of mixed coniferous/ deciduous forests and a gravel pit once operated in the Glen Major site and is currently being restored. The remainder of the property complex was previously used for agriculture and contains a variety of habitat including forest, meadows and wetlands. Old farm roads and farm building foundations are still visible. This hike has lots of elevation changes and I think that most hikers will find the forest quite beautiful but strenuous. It is a hike worth doing.
