Wednesday Wheelies Go To Collingwood

Since 2017, the Wednesday Wheelies have left the "safety" of our Toronto area countryside and headed up to Collingwood for three days of great riding and socializing. Unfortunately because of Covid we couldn't go in 2020. But this year we are heading back to Collingwood on Tuesday September 28, Wednesday September 29 and Thursday September 30.  Any TBN member is welcome to join us.

The Routes There will be different routes each of the three days. On Tuesday the rides will leave from Creemore at noon. This gives everyone ample time to drive to Creemore -- no need for a hotel room Monday night. The rides on Wednesday and Thursday will leave from Fisher Field in Collingwood at 9am. It is expected that participants will head back to the GTA after the Thursday ride.

• 5:30 PM - We'll meet for drinks, wings and socializing at the Kelsey's Original Roadhouse (map). 
• After socializing we suggest you head off to dinner in groups to one of Collingwood's numerous restaurant options (or if you want you can just stay at Kelsey's).

Wednesday: 9:00 AM ride start time

• An alternative route is included for anyone interested in staying off the roads.  The Georgian Trail follows the scenic shores of Georgian Bay for 32 km from Collingwood to Meaford. You can turn around at any point. The route is suitable for road bikes. To see some images of the Georgian Trail, click here.

• 5:00 PM - We'll meet for drinks, wings and socializing at the St Louis Bar and Grill (map).
• After socializing please feel free to head off to dinner in groups to one of Collingwood's great restaurant options (or if you want you can just stay at St Louis').

Head home after Thursday's ride.

Accommodation You are on your own in finding accommodation. Because the event is a midweek event and after the start of the school summer holidays, our understanding is that you should not have any difficulty in finding accommodation. 
Although we will not have a headquarters hotel for the event, we have done a little bit of digging around for options. The Luxury Inn, Comfort Inn and Days Inn are all centrally located. The Luxury Inn will likely be the cheapest. With luck, you may be able to get mid week, pre-season pricing at the other options. The Milestone Motel is an old style drive up. It may be a little cheaper yet. It's well located and has very good reviews. Also The Holiday Inn Express has just recently opened.

Everything is Optional If you choose to participate in the event, it will be totally optional as to whether you ride all three days, and attend all the social functions. If you wish to have a partner or guest join you, terrific.  Guests riders must register.  For non-riding guests, you need only email us their name, mobile & email ID for contact tracing purposes. And if you wish to play golf or participate in some other activity, no problem. Our goal is simply to have an out-of-town cycling meet-up in a lovely location where there will also be opportunities for socializing.
