THIS WILL BE THE LAST OFFICIAL TBN FALL/WINTER HIKE OF 2020/2021. THERE MAY BE MORE HIKES POSTED BUT THEY WILL BE PROGRAM X EVENTS. I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE HIKES THIS YEAR. I THINK THEY WERE A GREAT SUCCESS. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK BOTH DAVID GAGNE AND PAUL BOURDEAU WHO ALONG WITH MYSELF LED MOST OF THE HIKES. I COULD NOT HAVE COORDINATED THIS PROGRAM WITHOUT THEM ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF ALL THE RESTRICTIONS THE GOVERNMENT MANDATED OVER THE 5 MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN RUNNING THE TBN HIKING PROGRAM
THANKS AGAIN
Please keep in mind that Winter Hiking is different than Fall Hiking. Proper footwear and icers are required
For this hike we will shift our attention from the north and east areas to the Ancaster/ Dundas Valley area. The Dundas Valley has a mixture of Carolinian forests, fields, cold water streams and stunning geological formations that is home to a wide array of rare plants, birds and wildlife. We will be starting at the Ancaster Lions Club pool and follow trails that have a lot of ups and downs. We will be doing approximately 235 meters of climbing in 11 km. I am not sure if it will be icy or muddy so prepare for both. Should be a beautiful day.
Distance: 13 km
Pace: Moderate (~3.5 km/hr)
Terrain: Moderate - some hills and steep declines. prepare for mud or ice or both.
PROPER FOOTWEAR AND ICERS ARE REQUIRED
