                 WINTER HIKING

Due to popular demand (and because there is nothing else to do) we are going to continue with Winter Hiking.  We will be offering 3 hikes with 3 different hike leaders and 3 different starting times.  When you register please do not double book.  These hikes will be full so do not book both thinking that you can cancel later.  Also be aware that if you book for the early hike and are late for whatever reason you may or may not be allowed to join the later group.  It will depend on spaces being available and will be at the discretion of the hike leader.

GREENWOOD CONSERVATION TRAIL           VERSION ONE

The Greenwood Trail is a a moderately trafficked loop trail near Pickering.  The trail follows Duffin's Creek and has lots of elevation changes which can be quite challenging in winter even with icers.  The terrain is quite pretty and it will be a trail that you remember.  There are two versions of this trail available.  One that is more challenging than the other.  Please discuss this with your hike leader

Distance:  11 km

Pace:       Moderate (~3.5 km/hr)

Terrain:     Moderate - rocky with hills and/or poor footing.   PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WINTER HIKING IS DIFFERENT THAN FALL HIKING AND YOU NEED TO PREPARE ACCORDINGLY.  Proper footwear including icers are strongly recommended.
