City Walk - Downtown Ramble Loop

  • 01 Mar 2020
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Food Court at the Hudson's Bay Centre, 2 Bloor St. East

For Sunday, March 1, meet at 10 AM in the Food Court at the Hudson's Bay Centre, 2 Bloor St. East. The Hudson's Bay Centre is located on the north-east corner of Yonge and Bloor, at the Bloor-Yonge subway station. The Food Court is on the lower level, on the east side of the building, near Park Rd. On Bloor St, there is an entrance which says "Matisse", just west of the Marriot entrance, which leads to the Food Court (to the right).

At the start there are washrooms, a Tim Hortons (that opens at 10 AM), and a Starbucks in “The Market by Longos” (accessible from outside at Bloor and Park Rd).

We will walk 10.6 Km from Bloor-Yonge to Union Station and back, and see a few interesting things along the way. The walk will be mostly on quiet city streets, so shoes or boots suitable for the weather would be appropriate. There will be several washroom stops, a coffee stop at Union Station, and a Lunch stop at Salad King. There will be many early exit points, and since we are downtown, we should never be more than about 500 m from a bus, streetcar, or subway.

Points of interest and early exits along the way include:

  • 0.0 Km – Bloor-Yonge Hudson’s Bay Food Court (coffee, bathrooms)
  • 2.0 Km – Allan Gardens (bathrooms)
  • 3.6 Km – early exit to Queen Station
  • 4.1 Km – early exit to King Station
  • 4.2 Km – Trader’s Bank Building
  • 4.8 Km – Union Station (coffee, washrooms, early exit to subway)
  • 5.2 Km – early exit to King streetcar

  • 6.3 Km – City Hall (Peace Through Honour monument, bathrooms)
  • 6.7 Km – early exit to St Patrick Station
  • 7.8 Km – Grange Park (Henry Moore – Two Large Forms)
