City Walk - Bloor-Yonge to Chinatown

  • 16 Feb 2020
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Food Court at the Hudson's Bay Centre, 2 Bloor St. East, Bloor-Yonge Station

For Sunday, February 16, meet at 10 AM in the Food Court at the Hudson's Bay Centre, 2 Bloor St. East. The Hudson's Bay Centre is located on the north-east corner of Yonge and Bloor, at the Bloor-Yonge subway station. The Food Court is on the lower level, on the east side of the building, near Park Rd. On Bloor St, there is an entrance which says "Matisse", just west of the Marriot entrance, which leads to the Food Court (to the right).

We will walk mostly on quiet city streets, with a couple of paved trails through parks, so shoes or boots suitable for the weather would be appropriate.

At the start there are washrooms, a Tim Hortons that opens at 10 AM, and somewhere nearby is a Starbucks that opens at 7 AM. There will be an early bathroom stop, a coffee break at Caldense Bakery or Nova Era Bakery, and a lunch stop at either King’s Noodles or House of Gourmet in Chinatown, before we return to the start. The full distance will be 11.4 Km. There will be many early exit points, and since we are downtown, we should never be more than about 500 m from a bus or streetcar.

Early exits and other points of interest along the way include:

  • 0.0 Km – Bloor-Yonge Hudson’s Bay Food Court (coffee, bathrooms)
  • 1.4 Km – Robarts Library (bathrooms)
  • 4.0 Km – early exit to College streetcar
  • 5.3 Km – Caldense Bakery or Nova Era Bakery (coffee, bathrooms, early exit to Dundas streetcar)
  • 6.7 Km – early exit to Queen streetcar
  • 8.5 Km – early exit to Spadina streetcar
  • 8.5 Km – King Noodle or Gourmets of China (lunch stop, bathrooms)
  • 9.7 Km – early exit to Queens Park Station (bathrooms at Tim Hortons)
  • 10.8 Km – early exit to Wellesley Subway Station
  • 11.4 Km – Bloor-Yonge (end of walk, bathrooms)
