In Ontario, the primary vector of infecting humans with Borrelia burgforferi (Lyme disease) is the bite of an infected blacklegged tick. The risk of exposure to the bacteria is the highest in the summer months in regions where blacklegged ticks have become established, of which are becoming more common in Toronto and Ontario.
In a presentation given by Toronto Public Health, members will learn about the signs and symptoms of Lyme disease, established tick locations throughout the GTA, tick identification strategies, and personal protective measures.
