City Walk- New Subway Walk

  • Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Subway Station

For our first winter City Walk of the year, in honour of the expansion of the subway system into Vaughan, we will walk from the northernmost new station, south to the other new stations.

Meet Sunday, at 10 AM, at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre station, at street level, at the northern end, near Millway Ave. and New Park Place. The regular version of the walk will be 11.5 Km, ending at Sheppard West station. I will provide an additional copy of the map if there is a group who would be interested in a shorter, slower walk of 5.7 Km, ending at York University station, where there is a food court and bathrooms are available. Since we will be walking past subway stations, there will be many opportunities to drop out.

The planned route includes:

  • 1.4 Km - IKEA (bathroom stop)
  • 2.4 Km - Highway 407 station
  • 4.2 Km - Pioneer Village station
  • 5.7 Km - York University station (bathroom/coffee break, end of short walk)
  • 7.1 Km - Finch West station
  • 9.4 Km - Downsview Park station
  • 10.5 Km - snack/lunch stop
  • 11.5 Km - Sheppard West station

This walk will be entirely on city streets, so footwear suitable for the weather conditions would be appropriate.

If you take the subway, note that there are washrooms inside the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre station (in the paid fare area). If you drive, parking is available for $5.00 at the Smart Centre (Walmart) beside the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre station, and washrooms are available in the Walmart.

This is an official TBN event. Non-members are welcome to join us. They will not be charged the non-member fee, but will be asked to sign the waiver form.
