Friday Night Ride – Toronto Islands

  • 11 Aug 2017
  • 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Jack Layton Toronto Island Ferry terminal behind the Harbour Castle Westin

Note the earlier time. Come to the ferry terminal by 6:00 PM to buy your ticket and find the group inside the compound.

Bring your bicycle to the Jack Layton Toronto Island Ferry terminal behind the Harbour Castle Westin, Queens Quay and Bay St. Tickets are $7.50 return. We will meet inside the compound to take the 6:15 ferry. Arrive a few minutes early as there may be ticket lineups. (Tickets are also available online).

Departure Time: 6:15 PM
Distance:  12 km
Typical Speed: 16 to 22 km/h
We will ride the quiet car-free Toronto Islands on flat paved roads and take in the history from Babe Ruth's first home run at the Island baseball stadium to World Rowing Champion Ned Hanlan’s statue. We will see the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse and the Algonquin Island Bridge where feisty island residents stood down the sheriff who had come to evict them from their homes. At the end of the ride you can linger for food and bevies at the renowned Rectory Cafe Patio.

With luck, the high water levels may persist and there will be puddles up to 6 inches deep in places that you can ride through. Best to wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet.

Helmets, and lights (front and back) are required. Please bring your TBN membership card. If you haven't joined TBN yet, you can come on the ride - Arrive 15 minutes early to sign the waiver and pay the non-member $5 fee. Check the website 2 hours before the ride for last minute info.
