Unofficial post season Friday night ice skating

  • 24 Mar 2017
  • 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM
  • Centennial Recreation Centre 1967 Ellesmere Rd. at Dolly Varden

Hello Friday night ice skaters, that wasn't a nice way to finish the season. The Toronto.ca/skate website stated Mel Lastman was open until March 19 and when everyone showed up there was no ice. In light of there isn't a Friday night event posted yet we can skate this Friday night at the Centennial Recreation Centre home of the Scarborough Figure skating club from 7:30 to 10:45 p.m. They have public skating from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., break for a flood and from 9:15 to 10:45 p.m. (no anklebiters) adults only skate. Centennial is a "pleasure skaters dream rink" larger than olympic size, no side boards. You step on the ice from a carpeted perimeter about 6 inches up from the ice. And it's free admission. To get here by ttc take line 2 to line 3 all the way to Scarborough town centre and then the Highland Creek 38 bus to Dolly Varden. From Yonge and Bloor subway leaving at 6 p.m. takes about 50 minutes according to ttc trip planner. Drivers; 401 to Markham Rd south to Ellesmere and west to Dolly Varden and south into large (free) parking lot. Have your dinner first before the skate and the apre's by consensus.
