Sunday Urban Roller - The Big Loop (9am start) (see weather note)

  • 23 Jul 2017
  • 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Etienne Brule Park
Regarding the weather:  As of Saturday, the forecast is sunny in the morning, with 60% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms in the afternoon. If this doesn't change, here's the proposed plan. When we reach the 25 km mark (passing under the 401) I will reassess the weather. If it looks bad, we will take a quick return route to the start which should have us back in about an hour and a half.

GETTING TO THE START:   Please note that the Bloor-Danforth subway is closed between Broadview and St George for Maintenance. Bloor Street is closed between Dufferin and Landowne for the Big on Bloor festival. You may be able to ride slowly through it. Allow extra time. The eastbound Gardiner is closed from the Humber for the TO Marathon.

NOTE:   Due to the lower Don path closure (2nd year running) there is a change to the route for this year (2017). While the cue sheet is unchanged (and still mostly correct) the Ride with GPS map has been updated to show the route that we will be actually taking. It is still worthwhile to print a copy of the cue sheet and bring it along just in case.

We'll go up the Humber Trail, across the top of the city and down the Don River paths to return along the Lakeshore. Lunch at Tim Hortons. A longer ride than usual to help get you in shape for Cyclon.

Just a note:In the past this ride typically finished at 5 pm so we're starting it an hour earlier this year. This ride is considered to be Advanced Urban Roller level, and is not recommended as a first ride of the season or if you haven't been on the bike much this year. Not recommended for Leisure Wheelers.

Meet in the parking lot of Etienne Brule Park for a 9:00 a.m. departure. Etienne Brule Park is located at the junction of Old Mill Road and Old Mill Drive (around the corner and down the hill from the Old Mill subway station).

Please print a copy of the cue sheet (both pages!) provided from the link listed below. Please note that the Ride with GPS cue sheet directions have not been edited and may not be accurate, but the linked cue sheet has been checked and was created specifically for Urban Rollers.

Non-members are welcome to join the ride with a payment of five dollars and signing of the waiver form. All participants are required to wear a helmet.
