Niagara Bike and Hike

May 20-23, 2016

This trip is now full. Please email Carl Friesen at carl@showyourexpertise.ca to join the waiting list  - there's always a chance that somebody will have to cancel.

The exciting weekend trip, on offer for the second year, gives you the chance to ride the quiet roads and paved off-road trails of Niagara, including the little-known Welland Canal Trail. There will be optional wine tours and a hike along the Bruce Trail. We’ll spend three nights in the comfortable residence of Niagara College, Niagara-on-the-Lake campus. You’ll have your own bedroom in a two-person suite, with shared full bath with shower and kitchen. You can store your bike in your suite. Sheets and towels are provided, and kitchens feature refrigerators. The Residence serves a continental breakfast in the dining room (you may want to bring your own protein), but you provide your own food for other meals.

If enough people can get there early on Friday, we’ll schedule a short ride starting at 1pm. At around 7pm, you can join the group for supper at a local restaurant if you wish (pay your own way). On Saturday morning we’ll gather for breakfast in the residence's dining room and, for those who don't want to buy a lunch, prepare lunches to take on your ride. After the ride there's an option for a wine tasting at a local winery (at a cost of $15) if there's enough interest, and on Saturday evening we offer a limited number of seats for an optional prix-fixe menu at the renowned Benchmark Restaurant on the colleague campus. The cost is $61, including tax and tip, plus drinks. (Other, lower-cost options are available nearby).

Sunday features more riding in the Niagara Falls area, followed by a pot-luck dinner, and on Monday you have the opportunity for more riding, a hike, or your own winery tours.

The TBN member price of $199 includes three nights' accommodation, route research and maps, and two continental breakfasts. Suppers are pay-your own on Friday and Saturday nights, plus your contribution to the pot-luck on Sunday evening. Non-members pay $209.
