Board of Directors (Elected Positions)

Note: all Board positions are open to members in good standing of the Toronto Bicycling Network. If you are interested being considered for a board position now or in the future, please contact the President. (All other positions are open to TBN members in good standing where a vacancy exists).

President - Works with other Directors and members in helping to develop, expand and implement club objectives, plans and programs.  Chairs board meetings, the AGM, and any other special meetings. Exofficio member of all standing committees. Recruits replacement Board members should a position become vacant. Enforces the by-laws, rules and regulations of the Corporation. Communications and Marketing Director - Responsible for publicizing all aspect of the club to existing members, as well as to the general public at large in an effort to retain and recruit members. Oversees club presence at trade shows. Maintains the home page of the website and oversees the Chain of Events newsletter. Click here for the job description. Contact: publicity@tbn.ca

Education Director - Plans and hosts educational events (e.g. bike skills workshops). Arranges speakers, venues, refreshments, and publicity for such events. Member Experience Director - Responsible for ensuring that the club delivers a positive and rewarding experience for all members with a particular focus on membership satisfaction and retention. The director leads the Ambassador Program - a team of members who are responsible for welcoming new members and helping them to make new friends, join rides that are right for them and orient them to the many programs that TBN offers. Overnight Trips Director - Organizes and oversees all multi-day TBN trips with the exception of Cyclon. Works with trip leaders to set fees, sets up the web page and registration form and reviews the outcome. Click here for the job description. Contact: weekendtrips@tbn.ca

Secretary - Arranges TBN monthly board meetings and takes minutes, keeping board members informed of agenda points and issues. Updates TBN records with Ontario authorities. Social Director - Coordinates social activities such as volunteer-appreciation events, spring kick-off, summer picnic and the AGM Dinner/Dance including arranging for venue rental, food, beverages, entertainment, ticketing, and (with Communications Director) door prizes. Technical Director - Develops and administers TBN’s website, databases, and other software. Manages technical support for TBN administrators and members. Establishes standards & procedures, balancing technical needs and ease of use. Evaluates new technology & tools and provides technical recommendations and guidance. Touring Director -  Oversees our regular programs for cycling and fall/winter activities. The touring director works with the coordinators of individual ride programs and acts as a liaison between the coordinators and the board. Click here for the job description. Contact: touring@tbn.ca

Treasurer - Administers the finances of the corporation. Maintains a full and accurate account of all TBN revenues and expenses. Deposits payments to the TBN, pays bills, and reimburses officers for reasonable expenses (in accordance with TBN policy). Prepares budgets and financial statements as required, including the Annual Financial Statements for the AGM. So you don't feel like serving on the board just yet? Following is a list of some TBN's non-Board volunteer positions.If you volunteer for just one event or position, you are helping the club considerably. And remember that volunteering is FUN and you get to meet lots of new people.

Cyclon Chair - Coordinates the annual Cyclon rally held on the long weekend in August. Works with Cyclon committee members to choose a location, arrange accommodation and meals, develop cycling routes, organize social events, undertake publicity, manage the Cyclon budget, etc. Contact: cyclon@tbn.ca

Membership Secretary - Approves new applications, sends out membership cards, tracks new and lapsed members. Contact: membership@tbn.ca

Newsletter Editor - Solicits input for, and then writes the monthly Chain of Events newsletter. Contact: newsletter@tbn.ca.
