There is a meeting concerning the proposed Bluffers Park Public Meeting coming up next week.
Date: Tuesday, January 24, 2012
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Presentation at 7 p.m.
Location: Blessed Cardinal Newman High School Auditorium,
100 Brimley Road South (at Kingston Road)
This missing link is one of a number of paths we are currently working on, to try and improve the connectivity of the waterfront trail in Scarborough. (This spot at Bluffers forces cyclists have to ride up to Kingston Road.)
Unfortunately, some local area residents have expressed that they would prefer this connection not be made - so that the space remains inaccessible to many people who would like to use the park.
Here's the link to the info on City's site which includes photos of the park http://www.toronto.ca/involved/projects/swtrails/bluffers.htm

The trail connection proposal received a very poor reception at the public meeting. Only one person spoke in support of the project, and it looks like the ward councillor will now ask City Council to vote on whether or not to proceed.
There's another meeting next week regarding a proposed Waterfront Trail connection through the Harrison Estates property a little west of Bluffer's Park. This second project is actually a little more feasible and possibly more valuable to continuity of the Waterfront Trail. A somewhat stronger showing from the cycling commuity in support of this project would be helpful, especially since the City is looking at other future improvements further east that need support to get approved.
