As of Friday, September 3 we still don't have a volunteer to lead this Sunday's Niagara Wine Lover's Tour. As a courtesy to our members we are making the maps freely available to download and print should you decide to make the trip. See attached, download links below. Yes, you need to be logged in to download the files...
Niagara Wine Lovers Tour Maps Here!
Perhaps uploading maps for every ride is a good idea, right?
I find the sign in routine complex, the required complex (capitalization, punctuation, numeric mix) password is excessive for a non-financial site, and when getting a new password, it then rejects your email as being already used (of course it is), so you're forced to put in a dummy, and change it later. Ive been through it twice,... frustrating. Then the word verification, ... over the top.
Hi there, thanks for the route maps. Are there any gravel or "off roads" for this ride that would require a mountain bike - or is this road bike friendly?
Thanks,
This is too late for the TBN wine lovers tour, but might help if anyone is planning another ride between now and the end of the season.
I haven't ridden all the roads in Niagara Region, but I've ridden a lot of them (TNTO, Hair Shirt, some unofficial rides with club members and/or friends, occasionally solo or with family) and haven't seen anything that I couldn't ride on a road bike.
If you would like to cross-reference the club route map against another reliable source, go to http://www.niagaracycling.ca/Niagara%20Cycling%20Maps.htm and download their map. It shows all the popular routes in Niagara, and codes them so you know which have bike lanes, which are paved, which have heavy traffic, which are gravel, and so on. It also indicates where the climbs are.
As a bonus, it also shows locations for most of the wineries, and has a table indicating what services are available at each. I haven't yet figured out how to carry a case of wine on my bike, but that's a problem for another day, and another thread.

Thanks, Owen. I was scheduled to lead this ride, but I am not able to do so for family reasons.
When I checked the route last week, Fly Rd was under construction through Campden, so I updated these instructions to detour down Dutch Lane.

I hope the weather is good on Sunday and that you enjoy the ride!
