As the assigned leader for this ride...which is perhaps my most favourite Country Cruise and I hate missing it...please accept my sincere apologies for not being at the start point to greet and join you on the ride today. Believe me, with the sun shining as I write this, I am probably more frustrated that I did not go, than you are / may be with me!

My dilemma this morning was whether to heed to the ominous forecast for 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms supposedly "commencing at 10:00 am" or to drive out to Cobourg, since it was not raining at 8:00am. Unfortunately, I do not own a car. This does pose a problem, needless to say, when the weather forecast is "iffy". I am always grateful for the generosity of George Witte who kindly lets me travel with him most weekends to the CC's. This morning when the weather was so questionable, the decision was to not go to Cobourg and to resort to our contingency back-up plan: namely Wayne or Brenda McRoberts, who live in the Cobourg area, would arrive at the start point and hand out maps to any riders who show up. Thank you, thank you a thousand-fold for doing this for me, Wayne and Brenda! I don't know what I would have done without you!!

So everyone...please forgive me for my absence today. I envy you that you all were able to enjoy the lovely, scenic rolling terrain north of Cobourg and around Rice Lake while I remained in hot, humid TO! I so wish I had been with you! Darn the weather forecasters...or rather, darn my listening to them!!!! Anyway, you are all much wiser than I...Moral of the story: if there ain't no drops from the sky at the time of departure, then just go!!! Suffice it to say, I hope it was a good ride for all of you, in spite of a less than favourable start. I look forward to seeing you on a future CC...although I may have "my tail between my legs" on initial encounter!

Thanks for your understanding! Take care and safe cycling!
