I am looking to ride around Lake Ontario this coming May. While I am an experienced cyclist, I have never gone on any bike tours and am eager for some advice.
Are there any route maps (with marked camp sites / hotels listed) that you guys would suggest?

Also, I'm hoping to use my road bike to avoid purchasing a hybrid/touring bike. It's a Trek 1200, an entry- level road bike I bought new about 5 years. Any suggested modifications I owuld need to make.

Thanks for any help!

Josh

There is a book called 'Round Lake Ontario: A Bicyclists Tour Guide by Harvey Botzman that has all that information. The Canadian side of the tour follows the Waterfront Trail, so you can check out their web site and get maps. Brian Hedney has directions for the Toronto to Kingston portion, which also covers accomodation: http://www.hedney.com.

Brian Hedney's site is a great place to start. I made the trip years ago (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/BrianHuntley2002) - it was my first solo tour and was a great ride.
