Hi folks,

I am thinking about retiring the 25 year old Miele in favour of something new, well new last year (2009). I have some concern about my wrists as I do a lot of computer work, so I'm looking for something that puts less strain on them, so I am looking at a relaxed/performance geometry bike. The models I have been considering are the Cannondale Synapse Carbon 5, Trek Madone 4.5, Giant Defy, and Scott CR1 Team.

Are there any others I should consider?

These bikes all seem to be very similar, is there anything that sets one apart from the others?

How do their warrantees compare?

Do they all have crash replacement programs and are they comparable?

Would these bikes be more comfortable and easier on the joints than my Miele?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Glen

I haven't had a chance to

I haven't had a chance to test ride all the models listed, but so far none of them have felt as smooth as my old steel Miele, the closest being the Trek Madone 4.5. Mind you none have them have been fitted properly, including my Miele.

As mentioned in my original post, I am concerned about the impact what I ride will have on my wrists. What I failed to mention is that I am also concerned about the stress and strain on my knees as there is a history of knee problems in my family. Will riding a lighter bike put less strain on my knees? I am sure losing weight on my own body will be far more beneficial to me than losing weight on my bicycle. ARe there any web sites that discuss this without any marketing hype?
